Man arrested by armed police outside Tesco Express store remains in custody

A 32-year-old Warrington man remains in police custody after armed police swooped outside the Tesco Expess store at Grappenhall, Warrington, yesterday.

In dramatic scenes the man was wrestled to the ground in front of startled shoppers outside the entrance to the store.
An NCA spokesperson said: “Yesterday [27 April] armed NCA officers arrested a 32-year-old man in the Grappenhall area as part of an investigation into the supply of firearms. The man, who is from Warrington, remains in custody.
“This is an ongoing investigation and no further details are available at this time.”
