Gas cylinder well alight on barbecue during busy evening for firefighters

TWO fire crews were called out to tackle a fire involving a gas cylinder well alight at a property in Whittle Hall, Warrington on Wednesday evening.
Two fire engines attended, one from Warrington and one from Penketh arrived at the property in Billington Close, Warrington at 18:45.
On arrival the crews found that the cylinder was well alight on a barbecue. Crews vented the cylinder while using a hose reel jet to cover the area.
A thermal imaging camera was used to check the temperature of the cylinder. Once the fire was extinguished, firefighters continued to cool down the cylinder with a hose reel jet.

In another incident one crew from penketh was caleld to a fire in the open on Stocks Lane, Warrington shortly after 18:00.
On arrival the crew discovered a section of conifer trees well alight. One hose reel jet was used to extinguish the flames.
While on scene the crew discovered a fire in the garden of a property nearby. The crew used a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames.
Firefighters damped down the scene and checked the area for hotspots with a thermal imaging camera.
In another incident one fire crew from Birchwood attended a fire in the open on Windermere Avenue, Orford at 18:52 On arrival the crew discovered that the fire involved a seat from a vehicle.
A water back pack was used to extinguish the fire.
