A DIESEL-powered BMW was badly damaged by fire on the A49 Winwick Road, Warrington, last night.
Fire crews were called to the scene near Junction 9 of the M62 shortly before 11.30pm and found the car well alight.
A firefighter wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze with a hose reel jet and the crew then damped the car down to make it safe. The blaze is believed to have been caused by a fault on the car.
In another incident, firefighters went to a house in St Elphin’s Close, Warrington where a fire had been reported in the back garden. They used a hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze, which had been started deliberately.
