Man arrested after Folly Lane knife attack

A MAN has been arrested by Warrington Police following a serious assault on Folly Lane during the early hours of Saturday morning when the victim suffered serious injuries after a knife attack.

The incident happened at approximately 3.20am on Saturday 7 March when a group of friends who were stood outside McDonald’s on Folly Lane, were approached by an unknown man.

The man produced a large knife and assaulted one of the group, a 21-year-old man from Wigan, causing serious injuries.

The victim was taken to Whiston hospital where his condition is described as stable.

A 21-year-old local man has been arrested in connection with the attack and he is currently assisting officers with their enquiries.

Detective Inspector Nick Henderson said: “While we have arrested a suspect in connection with this incident we are continuing to appeal for information from the public.

“As part of our enquiries we’re keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the attack, or anyone with any information which may assist with our investigation.

“The same goes for anyone who was driving in the area at the time of the incidents and thinks they may have dashcam footage which may be relevant to the investigation.”
