WINWICK Road was closed in both directions on Friday night following a police incident.
The closure took place shortly before the end of the rugby match between Warrington Wolves and Castleford Tigers and is believed to be unconnected.
Police were seen running across the Tesco car park and the Road was cordoned off as numerous emergency vehicles descended on the area.
There were unconfirmed reports of a stabbing.
No other details are available at this stage.
