A true community champion!

CONGRATULATIONS to “Super Bennie Westwood” on becoming a Honorary Citizen of Warrington, after putting his body on the line for Warrington Wolves for an incredible 18 years.

Having known Ben for many years and seen first hand his passion for Warrington, not just on the sports pitch but also out in the community, he is certainly deserving of the honour which was unanimously approved by members of the Borough Council.

With a bit of a reputation for being a tough character on the pitch, it was heart-warming to see him with his family, giving an emotional acceptance speech in the town hall chamber.

He now embarks with a new business venture with a burger van near Omega, but retains his links with the club as an ambassador and a coach of the highly successful women’s team.

I wish him every future success and he is certainly a true community champion of his adopted home town.
