VIDEO: THE new Warrington Market is on schedule to open in April providing a vibrant town centre destination with traditional features, contemporary charm and Sunday opening.

While free parking at the Time Square multi-storey car park has now ended, there has been a 30 per cent increase in footfall at the temporary market since the opening of the thoroughfare, which has now created passing trade, says Market Manager Andy Ward during an interview on the #LoveWarrington show with myself  and Gary Pemberton from Belvoir Sales & Lettings, who have also seen a boom in business since the start of the New Year.

Commenting on the new market facility Andy said: “It is going to be fantastic and a credit to Warrington nd the contractors and the traders will find it palatial compared to where they are now – and don’t forget we won small market of the year, last year!

“We are on scedule to open in April, not sure of the exact date yet but the tarders may get Easter in the existing building and then it will take about two weeks to move over.”

Meanwhile Andy cofnriemd free parking validation at the market had now ended, although visitors to the nearby cinema could still get up to eight hours free when purchasing a cinema ticket.

“While the parking was free for visitors someone had to pay parking services and it wasn’t cheap,” he added.

The main retail space will consist of 40 individual units, all fully serviced to house any type of trader.

The mezzanine level will feature an additional 15 retail units and a large shared space, providing the ideal canvas for events, specialist markets, entertainment and more including a studio for th etown’s community radio station Radio Warrington.

. Traders will also have shared access to an extensive basement area with additional storage options, as well as refuse and recycling facilities.

The market is on schedule to open to the public in April 2020, and will be the culmination of several years’ hard work in moving, rebuilding and refocusing the retail market offer in Warrington town centre.

Applications are still be taken to trade at the the new market. All you need to do is complete the online application form and submit your business plan. All traders will know the outcome of the selection process by the end of February 2020.
