Village launches drive to become carbon neutral in five years

AN initiative to make the village of Lymm carbon neutral by 2025 – or even sooner – has been launched by Lymm Parish Council.
The council has declared a “climate emergency” and has invited a group of local organisations to help pull together a large community event which will take place alongside the Lymm May Queen celebrations on Saturday, May 16.
The group will be known as the Lymm Environment Action Forum (LEAF).
Local organisations striving to leave Lymm a better place for future generations are being invited to join the initiative.
These include schools, Scouts, Guides, Rainbows, Beavers, Brownies, etc. who will be invited to take part in competitions to to learn how to calculate the carbon footprint of their homes, and community buildings, to establish a target.
The calculation will then be repeated across a wide cross section of the village every year until the “No Carbon Lymm” target is reached.
More details of the scheme will be made known later.
