Firefighters tackle suspected arson attack on Orford home

TWO fire crews tackled a suspected arson attack at a residential property at Orford late on Friday afternoon.

The incident took place at 16:49 when two fire engines, one from Birchwood and one from Warrington, following a report of a fire at a domestic property in Grasmere Avenue, Orford, Warrington.

The fire involving an external extractor fan was out on arrival. Firefighters cut away the extractor fan and a cavity wall to expose hotspots.

They then damped them down with a hose reel jet.

A thermal imaging camera was used to locate hotspots and monitor temperatures. Firefighters left the scene once they were satisfied that the property was safe.

They were in attendance for more than half-an-hour.

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
