Buildings evacuated as gas cylinder blazes

BUILDINGS were evacuated when fire broke out involving a gas cylinder at Appleton Thorn, Warrington today.
Fire engines from Birchwood and Lymm were call to the scene on the Barleycastle Trading Estate in Lyncastle Way.
The fire involving a gas cylinder in a workshop was out on arrival and nearby buildings had been evacuated.A cordon was set up, the road was closed in both directions and the electricity supply to the building was isolated.
Firefighters set up a ground monitor to cool down the cylinder.
A water supply was established and the temperature of the cylinder was monitored.
Once firefighters were satisfied that the cylinder was safe they left the scene.
They were in attendance for around an hour-and-a-half.
