Man airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after incident on Church Street

A man has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after emergency services, including armed police descended on Church Street, Warrington, shortly after 11.30am today (Tuesday).

At least three ambulances and four police vehicles, including armed officers, attended at premises on Birchwood Court, close to the Bull’s Head pub, following concerns for a man’s safety.

The road was closed in both directions but has now re-opened.

A spokeszperson for Cheshire Police said: ” At 11.32am on Tuesday 28 January emergency services were called to reports of concerns for the welfare of a man on Church Street, Warrington.

“Police and ambulance attended the scene and a man was found inside a flat with serious injuries.

“The man has since been airlifted to hospital. As a result of the incident a temporary closure was put in place on Church Street to enable air ambulance to land at the scene.

Enquires are ongoing. At this stage the incident is not believed to be suspicious.
