Three local athletes to represent England in March

THREE Warrington Athletic Club Master Athletes took part in the Four Villages Half Marathon at Helsby – incorporating the trial to select the England half marathon Masters teams – and all three won Masters Age Group titles.
First to finish was Colin Bishop, who turned 60 at the beginning of December, in 57th place overall in a time of 1 hour 17 minutes 12 seconds to win the over 60 age group.
Lymm resident Steve Watmough was next to finish in 64th place with a time of 1 hour 18 minutes 05 seconds to win the over 55 age group.
Mervyn Ward , from Cinnamon Brow, who turned 65 just two weeks previously, finished in 254th place with a time of 1 hour 28 minutes 21 seconds to make it a hat trick  of age group wins, winning the over 65 age group.
With the first four in each age group being selected for the England teams all three will be representing their country on March 15 at the Fleet Half Marathon.
