THREE men have been arrested and charged following an incident in which a man snatched a handbag from a woman outside a club in Warrington town centre.
Door staff at the club responded quickly to the alleged theft and chased the suspect, detaining him in Palmyra Square. Police were called and the man was arrested.
During the incident it is alleged the man racially abused a bystander and assaulting a police officer.
A ‘phone in the bag was traced to Brick Street, on the other side of town, where another man was arrested on allegations that he was involved in the theft. A woman was also arrested for being drunk and disorderly.
Subsequently, police said one man had been charged with theft from the person, another had been charged with theft, a racially aggravated public order offence and police assault and a woman had been charged with being drunk and disorderly
