Bag thief arrested after door staff give chase

A thief who snatched a woman’s handbag outside a town centre club was arrested by Warrington police after being detained by door staff who gave chase.

Officers responded to a report of a male snatching a handbag from a female outside a club in the town centre.

Door staff  gave chase, detaining the male on Palmyra Square. Officers attended and arrested him – it is alleged that healso racially abused a nearby bystander and assaulted a police officer.

He was arrested for alleged Theft from a Person, Racially Aggravated Public Order and Assault on Police.

A phone that was in a bag was traced to Brick Street across town where a further male was arrested for alleged involvement in the theft. A woman with him who expressed her objections  in an allegedly Drunk & Disorderly manner was also arrested.
