Man in custody after alleged sex assault

A MAN is in custody at Warrington today following allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman in the town centre yesterday afternoon.
The woman claimed she had been assaulted in the Old Market Place and reported the incident to police.
Subsequently, officers arrested a man on Arpley Street on suspicion of being involved in the alleged incident.
He spent the night in custody and is still being held.
