Former MP launches re-election campaign

FAISAL Rashid, Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Warrington South, has officially launched his re-election campaign.
In keeping with his inclusive approach as the MP for Warrington South, his launch was attended by more than 80 local supporters from across the whole constituency.
Prior to his election in 2017, Faisal promised to be the most accessible MP Warrington South has ever had. In the last two years, he has handled more than 10,000 pieces of casework on behalf of constituents; held 300 constituency surgeries; attended 400 over public meetings, events, school visits, visits to businesses and community organisations. He has placed this accessibility and hard work at the centre of his re-election campaign.
In the last election, Mr Rashid demonstrated his wide and popular appeal by polling the highest vote for any candidate in the history of Warrington South, taking the seat from the sitting Tory MP.
Mr Rashid said: “Representing the people of Warrington South for these last two years has been the honour of my life. Being able to stand up for local people in parliament has only strengthened my commitment to fighting for our town.
“Almost a decade of Tory austerity has decimated our communities. In Warrington, we have had years of under-investment and outright dishonesty from this Government. Parts of our hospital are over 100 years old. Our local foodbank is doubling its size. Local transport links are costly and unfit for purpose. The Tories have presided over a declining and divided country. It’s time for real change.
“Warrington desperately needs a Labour Government.”
