ONE year on from its launch the Warrington BID team announced a major marketing campaign to promote the town centre earlier this week.
For those of you who don’t know, the BID is funded from money collected from town centre businesses who pay business rates over a certain threshold.
With the current problems facing the high street, which have been ongoing for more than a decade, hopefully this marketing campaign will provided a much needed boost to the town centre.
While the town centre has been run down and pretty much neglected for many years, hopefully things are now starting to turn a corner with the new Time Square development well under way and the new multi-screen cinema set to open next month .
Add to this the national restaurant/bar franchise The Botanist due to open in December and the brand new Warrington Market, set to open in the Spring, there certainly seems to plenty to be positive about.
The Cultural Quarter has already improved the town centre offering over the past few years but there is still a lot of hard work to be done to convince the doubters that you can have a great experience visiting Warrington town centre.
With a real ice rink set to arrive at Golden Square towards the end of this month for the Christmas period it will certainly help make Warrington a festive destination.
Here at warrington-worldwide we are proud to be working in partnership with the BID and as always will try our best to promote Warrington in a positive way – but there is still a lot of hard work ahead.
But with a wide variety of businesses and voluntary groups all pulling in the same direction hopefully Warrington can continue to buck the national trend and prosper during tough economic times, not being made any easier by Brexit uncertainity!
Let’s hope the forthcoming General Election can help bring an end to the ongoing Brexit misery – but I am not holding my breath!
