Woman police officer assaulted at Bewsey

A 21-year-old man has been arrested and taken into custody after a woman police officer was assaulted at Bewsey, Warrington, earlier today (Thursday.)

The incident happened at 12.12pm on Thursday 31 October when police attended to Folly Lane after a man had assaulted a police officer causing a minor injury to her head.

The man ran away from the scene and was detained a short time later.

A 21-year-old man from Warrington has been arrested on suspicion of assault and being in possession of an offensive weapon.

He remains in police custody for questioning.
