Unsightly signs removed at long last!

UNSIGHTLY “no ball games” signs have at long last been removed from the Newchurch ward of Culcheth.

Local parish Cllr Margaret Webber said: “Two years ago residents of the Newchurch ward brought to my attention the many decrepit, neglected and unsightly old  “No Ball Games” signs which were blighting most of the green areas of this otherwise pleasant part of the village.

“It has taken two years to track down the agency currently responsible for these sixty-year-old pieces of street signage and to have them removed.

“After a good many difficulties, the work has finally been completed and the difference to the environment can clearly be seen, for example, in the accompanying before/after photos of the junction of Downham Avenue with Newchurch Lane.

“More work remains to be done on having many street name signs refurbished,” she added.
