Sledgehammer and knife seized following disturbance outside care home

POLICE seized a sledgehammer and a knife from a man arrested following a disturbance outside a Warrington care home on Saturday afternoon.

Officers arrested the male in the Sankey area for an allegation that he has turned up at a nearby care home and made threats to damage property with a sledgehammer.

The man fled the scene in a BMW car which was stopped just off Sankey Way near the Pink Eye roundabout. A combat knife was also allegedly found in his car.

The male was arrested and taken into custody for allegations of Affray, Possession of a Bladed Article, Assault and Drink Driving.
