DETECTIVES are appealing for information after a terrified man fled his Warrington home during an aggravated burglary.

The incident happened at around 9.30pm on Thursday 10 October when the occupier of a flat in Salisbury Street fled the property as a group of males were banging on his front door and attempting to get in.

The group, who were carrying blunt objects as weapons, succeeded in breaking into the address and proceeded to damage numerous items once inside it.

They then ran out of the flat in the direction of the park in Salisbury Street.

The males are all described as being around 5’ 5” tall and wearing all black clothing with their hoods up.

Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and detectives are urging anyone who was in the area and saw anything that may aid their investigation to get in touch.

They also want to speak to anyone who believes they may know who the offenders are, or have CCTV or dashcam footage of them.

Detective Constable Darren Gibson, of Warrington Local Policing Unit, said: “This was a terrifying incident for the occupier. Thankfully he was able to get out of the flat and flee before the offenders broke in.

“I would like to reassure members of the community that this is believed to have been an isolated incident and we are doing everything we can to identify the offenders and make them face the consequences of their actions.

“Enquiries are ongoing and I urge anyone who was in the area and witnessed anything that may be relevant to our investigation to come forward.

“Perhaps you saw the group of males that night, either before or after the incident occurred.

“Or maybe you have CCTV or dashcam footage of them.

“I also appeal to anyone with any information regarding the identities of the offenders to contact us at Warrington Police Station.”

Anyone with information that may help detectives with their ongoing investigation should call Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting IML 535776, give the details via https://www.cheshire.police.uk/contact/general-enquiries or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Dashcam footage can be submitted online at https://cheshireconstabulary.egressforms.com.
