A WARRINGTON man was among hundreds arrested at the Extinction Rebellion protests in London this week.
Paul Sheeky, co-ordinator of Extinction Rebellion Warrington, was arrested on Wednesday at the climate change demonstration – one of hundreds from the north who blockaded Millbank.
Earlier in the week he had been interviewed by The Times.
Paul said: “The Earth is close to climate and ecological breakdown. Last time the planet heated uncontrollably, over 90 per cent of species were wiped out. As the Earth is now heating at a faster rate than at any time in its history, it is reasonable to assume that this could happen again.
“Current efforts to curb climate change are inadequate and government inaction thus constitutes a crime against humanity, the natural world and future generations.”
He said the protests would continue
