A piece of cake for jigsaw puzzlers

A SPECIALLY themed cake provided Culcheth puzzlers with a treat as they celebrated the first birthday of Culcheth Jigsaw Library.

The jigsaw group runs every Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 at Culcheth Library – providing the opportunity for people to meet to help complete a jigsaw or borrow one to enjoy at home.

Christine Smith, a member of the Friends of Culcheth Library (FoCL), said:  “When Culcheth Library was threatened with closure – a group of local residents and councillors worked together to keep it open and formed the FoCL – who took on board suggestions of groups and activities to offer at the library.  The Jigsaw Library has turned out to be an excellent addition and thanks to the local residents who volunteer to run it.”

Julie Berry, one of the volunteers, said:  “The jigsaw group is excellent fun and working together on a jigsaw often sparks great memories and lively debate.

Donations of jigsaws continue to come in – which helps keep the stock of over 150 jigsaws fresh and appealing to all puzzlers.  We welcome anyone to come along – it’s all free – joining Culcheth Library is all that’s required”.
