RYLANDS paid the penalty for not converting their chances when on top as they slipped to a fourth consecutive NWCFL Premier Division defeat on Tuesday losing 2-1 at home against Northwich Victoria.

Goalkeeper Greame McCall made a good save in the first minute to deny the visitors before Freddie Potter went close for Rylands three times in the opening twenty minutes, in the 25th minute Vics have a header from corner cleared off the line well.

Rylands broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute when Harry Molynuex took a quick free kick finding Ste Wolhuter who having made a great run in behind the Vics defence, brilliantly struck the ball first time in to the far corner.

A few minutes later Potter rattled the woodwork with a shot from 30 yards, however against the run of play Northwich equalised in the 39th minute through Tom Killfin. The visitors took the lead five minutes into the second half when Jamie Reed converted from the penalty spot.

Despite their best efforts Rylands could not find an equaliser as Northwich desperately hung on to claim the three points.

Rylands return to action on Saturday when they welcome NWCFL Premier Division rivals Bootle to Gorsey Lane in the Buildbase FA Vase first round, kick off 3pm.
