TWO Warrington businesswomen have won awards in the prestigious Enterprise Vision Awards.
Suzy Spencer, of Ron Spencer Cycles and Helen Pritchard of Helen Pritchard Online were among the 16 finalists at the award ceremony in Blackpool.
Their awards were in the retail business and internet industry categories.
The Enterprise Vision Awards (EVAS) are the largest business awards dedicated solely to women outside London. They champion women in business and shine a spotlight on their enterprise and innovation. From home workers to CEO’s of multi-national companies, the awards empower women and encourage others to fulfil their aspirations.
The region’s leading ladies lit up Blackpool brighter than the Illuminations as business leaders and influencers gathered to enjoy a spectacular evening hosted by Rosie Dummer of C4’s Extreme Cake Makers.
More than 650 guests attended the EVAS to recognise the outstanding achievements of women in business in the region.
Ron Spencer Cycles is a family run business in Warrington. Established in 1978 by Ron and Margaret Spencer, the business is now run by brother and sister Suzy and Paul. Last year they celebrated their 40th anniversary and also decided to relocate. A very successful open event at the new shop was held in June with special guest, six times Olympic gold medalist, Jason Kenny.
Suzy said: “I was delighted to win the award for retail, especially as this is an industry which is struggling year on year to keep up with online competition. I am passionate about keeping the high street alive and promoting ‘shop local’. I work in a male dominated industry so it was great to be recognised in these business awards dedicated to women entrepreneurs.   It’s great to be a role model for other women who run their own business like myself or who are thinking about taking the step to starting one up. “
