WARRINGTON Road at Culcheth was blocked on Sunday evening following an accident at around 6.10pm.
The incident took place between the Raven Inn and Culcheth High School.
At around 6.10pm firefighters were called to a report of a collision involving a car and a lamppost on Warrington Road.
Two woman got themselves out of the car and were assessed by paramedics.
One of them was taken to hospital.
Firefighters made the car safe and used a specialist tool to pull it away from the lamppost.
They also assisted the police in making the scene safe.
Firefighters were in attendance for around 40 minutes.
