Late night bus driver threatened with knife

DETECTIVES at Warrington are today urging witnesses to come forward following an armed robbery on a late night bus in the town.
At about 10.30pm on Thursday (September 19) an man flagged down a bus on Chatfield Drive in Birchwood, opposite the junction of Ramsey Close.
He then got onto the bus and threatened the driver, a 61-year-old man, with a kitchen knife, demanding that he handed over all of the takings.
After taking the money the man got off the bus and ran off into a nearby housing estate.
He is described as being around 5’ 11” to 6’ tall and of medium build. He spoke with a local accent and was wearing a black balaclava, a camouflage jacket and gloves.
An investigation into the incident has been launched and detectives want to hear from anyone with any information or footage which may assist their investigation.
Detective Constable John Parry said: “The victim in this case has understandably been left shaken up as a result of his ordeal and I want to reassure the community that we are doing all we can to trace the man responsible.
“Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and I appeal to anyone who has any information regarding the incident to come forward. Even the smallest amount of information can be useful when piecing together a case.
“The same goes for any motorists with a dashcam who were driving in the area at the time of the incident and has footage which may help the investigation.”
