WARRINGTON Museum & Library is set to become a ‘Fun Palace’ as part of a national campaign putting culture at the heart of communities.

On Saturday October 5, organisations across the country will be taking part in the national “Fun Palace” campaign aimed at putting culture at the heart of communities, and communities at the heart of culture.

The event sees buildings and organisations turned into so-called ‘Fun Palaces’ for the day with lots of different free activities on offer by local people, for local people.

From crafts to sports, music to digital – a wealth of different topics and interests will be celebrated and showcased.

The newly-revamped Warrington Museum & Library will be transformed into a ‘Fun Palace’ on Saturday 5th October from 11.00am to 3.00pm, with activities on offer throughout the building including children’s yoga, storytelling and poetry reading, family craft activities, signing choir, wildlife drawing, make-up demonstrations and much more.

Wendy Molyneux, LiveWire’s Strategic Library Manager, said: “We are really excited to be turning Warrington Museum & Library into a Fun Palace next month and we can’t wait to welcome people along for a day of free, family-friendly activities. There’s lots planned already but we know there are lots of talented people in Warrington and what better way for them to be able to showcase and share their creativity, skills and talents.

“Whether its crafts, arts, science, tech, digital, heritage or sports – we’re looking for local people and groups to get involved! If you have something to share with others we would love for you to take part, help us connect communities and have fun together. Please get in touch if you would like to be involved.”

Since 2014 a total of 1367 Fun Palaces have been held with over 450,000 people taking part. It is the second year that LiveWire’s Community Librarian Team has held a ‘Fun Palace’ event – following a successful one at Padgate Library in 2018.
