Police investigate after man rescued from canal

POLICE are investigating after a man had to be rescued from the Sankey Canal at Warrington last night.
Fire crews from Warrington, Penketh and Widnes were called to the scene off Lockton Lane, Bewsey shortly before 7.30pm.
They found a man in the canal and unable to get out of the water.
One firefighter was lowered into the water and managed to get the man out. He was given first aid by firefighters and then handed over to the care of paramedics before being taken to hospital by ambulance.
Fire crews were at the scene for about 50 minutes and police were also present and are investigating the incident.
