Burning food sounds midnight alarm

FIREFIGHTERS turned out to reports of a smoke alarm sounding at a house in Croft, Warrington – and found burning food was responsible.
The incident in Birchall Street  was around midnight and the crew isolated the gas supply and used a ventilation unit to clear smoke from the property.
A man in the property was assessed but showed no signs of injury or smoke inhalation.
Firefighters were at the scene for about half-an-hour.

Shortly before 9am this morning, firefighters were called to land near a pub in Alder Lane, Burtonwood following reports of a fire.
On arrival they discovered a large amount of refuse on fire and used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and then  raked out the debris while continuing to damp down the area.
