Lengthy delays on M56 following collision between bus and car

LENGTHY delays are being reported following a collision between a car and bus on the M56 near Stretton at around 4pm on Monday afternoon.

One lane of the M56, Eastbound between junction 10 (Stretton) to junction nine (Lymm) remains closed following the incident with normal traffic conditions prediacted to be at around 9pm this evening.

Three fire engines attended – one from Warrington, one from Stockton Heath and one from Winsford.

One man was physically trapped inside the bus and extricated by firefighters.

He was then handed into the care of paramedics and crews made up their equipment.

A spokesperson for Cheshire police confirmed there had been a collision between a red Mercedes and a bus at around 3.53pm.
