Plan for gin and cocktail bar in village centre

PLANS for a gin and cocktail bar offering occasional live music are being opposed by Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council.
The proposal involves the change of use of a former bridal shop at The Courtyard, off Common Lane, Culcheth.
Four other objections have also been received from neighbours.
They claim there are already too many drinking establishments and restaurants in Culcheth and they are concerned about possible noise pollution, littering and social problems leading to serious harm.
The parish council raises the issues of parking, noise, hours of business and a cumulative impact with a proposed, adjacent milk bar.
Proposed opening hours are 12 noon to 11.30 on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 12 noon to half-past midnight on Fridays and Saturdays and 12 noon to 10.30pm on Sundays.
The applicant has indicated there will normally be background music but on about two occasions a month, there will be live acoustic music on Sundays from 4pm to 7pm.
Officers are recommending the scheme be approved.
They say the scheme is an acceptable town centre use, contributing positively to the character, diversity and vitality of the centre and to the day and night time economies.
