Police launch murder investigation after man found dead in house

A murder investigation has been launched after a man was found dead in a house at Padgate, Warrington.

At 9.56pm on Sunday 4 August police received a report of concern for the safety of a 58-year-old man.

Officers attended his address on Station Road in Poulton-with-Fearnhead, Padgate, Warrington and the body of the man was found inside.

The death was initially treated as unexplained but following a Home Office post mortem it is now a murder investigation.

Detective Inspector Sarah Oliver, of Cheshire Police’s Major Investigation Team, said: “The investigation is in its very early stages and enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of what has happened.

“We have local officers in the area to provide reassurance to the community and anyone with any information or concerns is urged to speak to an officer.”
