THE normally quiet village of Croft, near Warrington witnessed a major police operation last night when armed officers arrested a 55-year-old man.
The incident, in Stone Pit Lane, came after police were called to what was originally described as a domestic incident at 4.30pm.
But officers remained at the scene for several hours.
A police helicopter was also deployed during the operation, along with numerous police cars.
The 55-year-old was arrested on allegations of affray and assault.
He is currently being held in custody.
