Summer holiday fun for families – from their landlords

SUMMER holidays got off to a fun start for some Warrington residents – tenants of Warrington Housing Association (WHA).
A special event with a “Toys and Treasures” theme, with Toy Story characters gave children a chance to enjoy crafts, get their face painted, balloon modelling and joining in with a toy-themed quiz, while their parents and grandparents were able to chat with members of staff from the housing association and visit stalls from other organisations like uSwitch and United Utilities.
The event, which included a free lunch for all WHA residents, also marked a special occasion for one resident, Deborah Reynolds, who was presented with a certificate and flowers, having been a resident for 25 years.
She said: “I have always enjoyed being a resident with WHA, they are a good landlord, which is why I have been with them for so long. My house is regularly updated and if you need to speak to someone, they are always available.
“It is lovely to get flowers and the certificate, and I have enjoyed the event, it is a good way of keeping in touch with what is going on.”
A prize giveaway was also held, with Toy Story gifts for the children and the top prize for the quiz winner being a new tablet – which was won by Lynda Buxton and her daughter Eseka, to be shared with her siblings Layla, Daryl and Eliza.
Beth Blenkinship, community development officer, said: “WHA ‘Engage’ gave residents the chance to meet the wider WHA team, chat to other WHA residents and talk some of our partner organisations that would be useful for them.  Residents having fun was also very important and many of them took part in the ‘Toys and Treasures Quiz’, while also enjoying lunch on a lovely summer’s day.
“It was great to see so many of our residents at the event. It is important to us to have really good communication with residents and we are always looking for new ways to stay in touch – so each and every one of them know they have a friend in us!”
