WARRINGTON Town recorded another pre-season victory as they beat Widnes 5-1 at the Halton Stadium.

Striker Josh Amis was amongst the goals again, scoring twice, while new signing Scott Sephton also bagged a brace.

The Yellows had taken a seventh minute lead through Connor McCarthy.

Widnes’ line-up included some familiar faces in ex-Warrington players Danny Ventre, Jon Shaw, Phil Mooney and Michael Grogan.

Dylan Vassallo was pivotal in both of Amis’ goals, running in behind and having a shot saved, with Amis putting in the rebound, before putting in the cross that Amis smashed home for his second.

Jack Dunn, who spent time on loan at Widnes last season, set up Sephton’s first before the hosts scored through Lewis Buckley.
