Council close to moving travellers on from Crab Lane playing fields

1

WARRINGTON Borough Council say they are close to removing an illegal travellers’ camp which has been located on playing fields off Crab Lane, Fearnhead, for more than a week.

Local residents have been complaining that the travellers have created litter problems in the area and been seen pouring toilet waste over junior playing fields.

A council spokesperson said: “We are continuing to engage with the encampment off Crab Lane, a Section 77 notice has been served and the majority of encampment members are expected to vacate the site today (Tuesday 23 July). Following health welfare checks we are continuing to support a small group of travellers who will remain on site in the short-term.”

  1. The fact they’re still there and some being allowed to stay because they’re pregnant is an absolute joke!! Let’s hope shes not got long to go or the council will let them stay for months! There is human faeces all around the field, rubbish everywhere, kids driving cars and quad bikes around the field and a horse and foal wandering about! Also congratulations to whoever has been paying them to do garden clearances because your rubbish is now also dumped on the playing field! But at least put council tax has gone up again so we can all foot the clean up bill!
