Warrington Town make third summer signing

WARRINGTON Town have signed left-back Louis Barnes from BetVictor Northern Premier rivals Nantwich Town.

Barnes, 27, was a mainstay in the Dabbers side that reached the play-offs last season, and he was sent off in the latter stages of their 4-1 semi-final defeat at Cantilever Park.

He came through the ranks at Stockport County along with twin brother Sam, and had trials with Manchester United, Hull City and QPR.

After 10 years with County, Barnes moved on to Northwich Victoria, Marine and Southport, before arriving at Nantwich via Colwyn Bay.

Following the departures of Alex Whittle and Adam Hughes, signing a left-back has been a priority for boss Paul Carden.

Barnes could feature in the Yellows’ opening pre-season game, a trip to Skelmersdale United, tonight (Tuesday).

Show your support for Barnes and the rest of the Warrington Town side for the new season with a new replica shirt – now available to pre-order. The deadline to ensure delivery at the first game of the season is Monday July 22.
