Machete raiders hunted by police

DETECTIVES are urging witnesses to come forward following an armed robbery at a convenience store in Warrington.
The raid – involving two men carrying machetes – was at the One Stop Shop in Dam Lane, Woolston at about 1.10pm last night.
Two terrified women working in the shop were forced to take the men to the safe.
But while they were stealing cash and cigarettes the offenders were disturbed by a customer entering the store.
They chased the man outside before fleeing in a light coloured Ford Focus car which had been parked at the rear of the shop with a third person in it.
The car drove off at speed along Gig Lane in the direction of Manchester Road.
The men who carried out the robbery were both wearing ski masks and hooded tops with their hoods up to conceal their identities. They both had dark clothing on.
One was tall and the other shorter.
Detective Constable John Parry said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the women who were working at the store and the man who entered the shop whilst the robbery was in progress.
“They have understandably been left extremely shaken up and we are committed to doing all that we can to identify the offenders and bring them to justice.
“The investigation is currently in the very early stages and we are following a number of lines of enquiry.
“As part of our investigation we want to hear from anyone who was in the area and believes that they may have seen, or have dashcam footage of, the offenders or the light coloured Ford Focus they were travelling in.
“We also want to speak to anyone who believes that they may know who the offenders are or have any other information that may aid our investigation.”
Anyone with information that may help detectives with their investigation should call police on 101, quoting IML 453412, give the details via https://cheshire.police.uk/contact/general-enquiries or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Dashcam footage can be submitted online at www.cheshire.police.uk/advice-and-support/roads-and-vehicle-safety/submit-dashcam-footage.
