Former England RU international Luther Burrell could make Wolves debut

FORMER England Rugby Union international Luther Burrell could make his Warrington Wolves debut against St Helens on Friday night after being named in the 19-man match day squad.

Head Coach Steve Price has seen enough in training to convince him Burrell is ready to be thrown in at the deep end in front of a big Halliwell Jones Stadium crowd for the top of the table clash.

Price says he has seen Burrell doing “some really good things” in training – certainly enough to earn him a place in the 19 man squad.

Burrell joined up with the Wire earlier this month and is eligible to feature having been released from his contract at Northampton Saints upon the completion of their 2018/19 campaign.

The former England International centre at 6ft 3, 17 stone, will add depth across a number of positions in the Wolves’ backline and back row.

Meanwhile Tom Lineham returns to the squad after missing the last three matches with suspension.

Wolves: Sitaleki Akauola, Blake Austin, Luther Burrell, Josh Charnley, Daryl Clark, Jason Clark, Mike Cooper, Ben Currie, Matt Davis, Bryson Goodwin, Chris Hill, Jack Hughes, Toby King, Tom Lineham, Jake Mamo, Declan Patton, Joe Philbin, Lama Tasi, Danny Walker.
