Lymm Food Fest dished up cuisines from around the globe to successfully launch the annual Lymm Festival

On a lovely summers evening food lovers descended in their thousands on the village of Lymm to sample the wonderful street food and entertainments laid on as part of this years Lymm Festival.

The ever popular Lymm Food Fest was the starter for this years festivities in the village which also include the upcoming Lymm Historic Transport Day (Sunday 23rd June).

On offer for the gourmet visitors was a cornucopia of culinary delights including curries, paella, barbecue, wild boar and venison, Chinese dishes, traditional pies and pasties and for those with a sweeter tooth street vendors offered ice creams and a large choice of cakes.

All the local pubs and restaurants added to the summer savoury spectacular providing drinks and meals to the crowds.

The Lymm Heritage Centre also opened its doors for the new exhibition entitled ‘Lymm’s Golden Age’, a fascinating multi media presentation showing the past history of manufacturing gold leaf within the village which was even used to adorn such illustrious landmarks as Buckingham palace and St. Paul’s Cathedral.

The first Lymm Festival took place in 1999. It has grown over the years, until it now lasts for eleven days and can involve 50 or more events, and it is as true to its original aims as it was when it started.

Drawing on a huge amount of local talent and willing participants, the Festival celebrates the visual and performance arts and, increasingly, includes activities designed to encourage involvement with the natural environment. The Festival has also been host to many visitors over the years who have performed or originated events in order to broaden the programme.

The Festival is organised by an Events Team working with a voluntary committee and an invaluable army of volunteers from the community.

Lymm Festival has always been a non-profit making organisation. It is a registered charity with the aims of promoting the arts and local heritage for the public benefit.

The Festival of fun continues throughout June and a list of events can be found here Lymm Festival Events
