Wolves get back to winning ways with victory over Wakefield

WARRINGTON Wolves bounced back from their disappointing defeat at Hull KR last week with a relatively routine 30-6 victory over Wakefield Trinity, despite the visitors taking the lead within two minutes.

The Wolves eventually recovered from a poor start after Ryan Humphries went over following a break down the middle by David Fifita. Dany Brough added the extras.

But it was the last time the visitors were to trouble the scoreboard, as expected by the https://www.unibet.eu/ odds, although it took 19 minutes before the Wolves eventually clicked into gear when Ben Currie went over. Dec Patton’s conversion levelled the scores.

Then on 27 minutes the Wolves took the lead as Josh Charnley scored on his 200th Super League appearance. Patton couldn’t add the extras.

On 29 minutes full=back Jake Mamo broke clear but Daryl Clark couldn’t control the pass.

But Warrington soon extended their lead on 35 minutes when Mike Cooper barged his way over and Patton converted to make it 16-6 at the break.

The Wolves started the second half brightly and were soon rewarded when Blake Austin danced his way through the Wakefield defence to scoe. Patton converted to make it 22-6.

Warrington created further chances on 53 minutes when Jason Clark broke clear but Bryson Goodwin’s kick was just too strong for mamo. Then two minutes later Goodwin looked to have crossed but was penalised for an obstruction int he build up.

Then on the hour Charnley had another chance but was forced into touch at the corner.

Warrington weren’t taking any chances and Patton extended the lead with a penalty in front of the sticks on 65 minutes.

The score remained 24-6 to the last move of the game when Jack Johnson got his first try of the season on the hooter. Patton converted to make it 30-6
