One of the town’s newest under 7s football teams has celebrated its first season with coaches, family and friends at a presentation day which took place at Winwick Leisure Centre..

Newly formed Winwick Wolves is ending its first season under Warrington Junior League in what parents have described as a ‘roller coaster’ of emotions.

Proud dad Jon Parr said: “The team was formed and officially enrolled just days before the season started with a bare minimum of five players.”

He added: “Since then the team has grown in numbers and the boys have developed in skill and maturity. They have given supporters and coaches some really special memories along the way. Most importantly they’ve had fun and forged great friendships.”

The presentation was the culmination of hard work and a memorable first season where coaches and parents had the opportunity to thank the young players for their efforts at both midweek training sessions and weekend fixtures.

Team manager Paul Berry, who also picked up the junior section Manager of the Year award said: “These are a great bunch of lads and are a pleasure to coach. They are a credit to themselves, to the   club and their parents.”

However, the season isn’t quite over for the young footballers, as the Wolves are continuing their training programme and look forward to taking their recent form into a series of local tournaments during the summer.
