RAIN failed to dampen spirits at the annual Thelwall Rose Queen event as villagers entered into the spirit of the occasion.

It was a real family affair as 12-year-old Robin Broadhurst was crowned Thelwall Rose Queen with six-year-old sister Olivia as one of her attendants.

They both followed something of a family tradition as their elder sister, Erin, 14, was Rose Queen in 2016.

Robin, a pupil at Lymm High School,  loves Morris dancing and is also a member of Ambitions Dance School in Lymm and is currently training towards taking her Grade 2 Ballet exam.

Guests at the event included Town Crier Peter Powell and Mayor of Warrington Cllr Wendy Johnson.

The rain, sometimes heavy, failed to dampen spirits as it was a case of on with the show with a Disney theme parade.
