New inclusive play area opens at Victoria Park

NEW inclusive play equipment has been installed at Victoria Park, Warrington, thanks to local charity The Bam Project, working in partnership with the borough council.

The Bam Project, a charity inspired by local youngster Brandon, nicknamed “Bam”, helped fund the project through Tesco blue tokens, Co-op local causes and fundraising done over the last few years at various events.

Cllr Tony Higgins was on hand to help perform the official opening ceremony, alongside members of the Bam Project, a charity set up to have inclusive play equipment placed in all public play areas, to ensure all children, regardless of their ability, to have somewhere to play and have fun.

It was inspired by local youngster Brandon who used to visit Victoria Park with his younger brother but was unable to use the equipment due to being in a wheelchair and too heavy for his family to lift him into mainstream apparatus.

Sadly he gained his angel wings aged just nine, while the fund-raising process was taking place.
