Warrington Neighbourhood Weekender lights up the town

THE Warrington Neighbourhood Weekender once again lit up the town as George Ezra performed a fantastic opening night set culminating in a huge firework display.

Back for it’s second year, following the huge success of the inaugural festival, The Neighbourhood Weekender has once again brought a wealth of musical talent to Victoria Park.

Singer songwriter, George Ezra, is a 4 times platinum seller giving him a total of 122 weeks in the UK charts. He wowed the crowd with some of his biggest hits including “Hold My Girl”, “Pretty Shining People” and his number one hit “Shotgun”

Also performing on the main stage were Primal Scream. Front man of the Glasgow group, Bobby Gillespie explained to the crowds that he had an affinity with Warrington as it is where his wife was born. They rocked out many of their best known songs including “Loaded” and “Higher than the Sun”.

The main stage also featured Nothing But Thieves, Maximo Park, Tom Grennan and many other bands who played to the huge crowds.

Stage 2 saw You Me At Six headlining joined by The Hunna, Pale Waves, Gaz Coombes and the Blinders to name but a few.

On the Viola Beach stage, for up and coming bands, were some real names to watch out for in the future including Kawala, Zuzu and Fuzzy Sun.

Happily there seemed to be no incidents or trouble during the day and police reported a quiet night on the park.

Sunday’s line-up included Ivor Novello winning artist Richard Ashcroft, former Verve front man, topping the bill with the Vaccines and the Charlatans also performing on another sensational, if a little damp, day at the park.
