Captain Roberts and striker Gray commit to Warrington Town

WARRINGTON Town have announced two more retentions for next season’s squad.

Captain Mark Roberts, 35, was named in the EVO-STIK League Premier Division Team of the Year and will go around again alongside fellow team of the year centre-back David Raven, who confirmed his new deal earlier in the week.

He joined the Yellows last summer after a stellar career in the Football League for clubs including Stevenage, Fleetwood Town and Cambridge United.

Gray 34, was the club’s top scorer last season and will remain for a third season at Cantilever Park.

The pair follow Raven, Josh Amis, Jack Dunn and goalkeeper Tony McMillan in confirming their stay at the club, while midfielder Alex Byrne has arrived from Gainsborough Trinity.

Manager Paul Carden has also signed a one-year contract extension, and he is expecting the bulk of his play-off winning squad to stay at the club for another tilt at promotion next season.
