IT was one of the funniest of the classic British film comedies, it inspired the famous St Trinians’ films – and it is Culcheth Players’ next production.
Rehearsals are already under way and John Dighton’s farce “The Happiest Days of Your Life” will be staged at Culcheth Sports Club (The Daten) on June 20, 21 and 22 at 7.30pm each evening.
Many will remember the film starring Margaret Rutherford, Alistair Sim and Joyce Grenfell.
The play is set just after World War II and is about what happens when a boys’ school receives the news that they are to billet another school which is all female. Events are complicated by the arrival of the parents.
The two heads try to conceal the fact that his/her school is now co-ed but eventually the parents learn the truth and are about to remove their children from the school when news arrives that a third school is to be amalgamated into theirs. They all join together to keep out these intruders.
Tickets are £7 and can be purchased in advance from the bar at the club or online at culchethplayers.co.uk. They can also be reserved by ‘phoning 07943 517710, or purchased in cash on the door on the night.
