FIREFIGHTERS faced the risk of electrocution when they tackled a deliberate act of arson on a horse box parked near rail power cables at Burtonwood, Warrington, last night.
The flames, heat and smoke was close to the rail power lines on Alder Lane, causing a huge risk of electrocution to the firefighters.
A representative from NetworkRail attended to assist the crews to keep safe.
Two fire engines attended – one from Warrington and one from Birchwood at around 21.25.
Crews set up an inner cordon due to the fire being close to a railway.
Wearing four breathing apparatus, crews used two hose reels to extinguish the fire and dampened down the area.
The horse box was then checked for hot spots using the thermal imaging camera.
Crews were in attendance for two hours.
