Police identify man in CCTV image

POLICE have identified a man who appeared in a CCTV image following a serious assault in Warrington town centre.
The 17-year-old from Warrington voluntarily attended a police station, was interviewed and subsequently released pending further enquiries.
The incident was in the early hours of Sunday, May 5, on Academy Way when two men were approached by a third man asking for a cigarette.
On being told they did not have any, the man punched one of them – a 22-year-old from Liverpool – in the face.
The man suffered serious face injuries which required ongoing hospital treatment.
Police issued the CCTV image because they believed the man pictured might have important evidence about the incident.
